Carpet Crack

Conrad leading "Carpet Crack" (5.8). This crack takes #3 up to #5 Camalots. You can jam it, layback it, or stem through the corner. It's your choice. More of this one later!

In retrospect, we might should've called this one 'Oh My Eye Dihedral' (homage to the classic at Old Rag)?

I named it Carpet Crack b/c years ago when I came across Skink Rock there was an old square of carpet stuff in the corner there at the crack. Some old school climber, from the days of carrying carpet squares, had ventured over there and I assume climbed the crack. It is hard to say at Harpers if something is new or not unless it is really challenging and even then it could have been aided (if it was a crack).
I do like your idea though and didn't know there was an Oh My Eyes at Old Rag.

'Oh My God Dihedral' is one of the classics at Old Rag & similar in nature to this climb (but considerably harder); I suppose 'Oh My Eyes' would be more of a parody than an homage... & no- I wouldn't presume to start naming routes there on my own.

Oh, now I remember that beautiful dihedral. Hey, didn't mean anything by my comment on things being done before. Just sort of a reminder to myself that I've been there a long time yet before I came people were there climbing. sometimes it seems like I've been going there for such a long time I forget it is only a third of the history of climbing at harpers.

Sorry, Conrad- that didn't come across the way I'd intended at all... I greatly enjoyed both Carpet Crack & Rags to Riches. Thanks again for introducing me to Skink Rock & the work you've put into this site. -peace
